Lillooet RCMP May 18 to May 24 2022, Calls for service: 58

The month of May is motorcycle awareness month. Please read our tips for being motorcycle aware as more motorcyclists hit the road this spring and summer.

Identity fraud
On May 18, at man reported he received a phone call from who he thought was Telus mobility and was talked into purchasing a new iPhone over the phone. The man provided his driver’s licence number, birthdate, but got suspicious when asked for his credit card information. The man hung up, contacted Telus mobility himself, and discovered they had not contacted him. The man was directed to create accounts with TransUnion and Equifax.

Intoxicated in public
On May 20 at 8pm, a man reported seeing a possibly intoxicated male on Main St near 6th Ave. Police attended and located at 51-year-old man heavily intoxicated, unable to verbalize a proper sentence. The man was arrested for being intoxicated in public and transported to Lillooet cells to safely sober up.

On May 20 at 10pm Lillooet RCMP and Stl’atl’imx Police conducted a roadcheck on Hwy 99S and Texas Creek Rd. Approximately 40 vehicles were checked, with two warnings given for fail to display N, and fail to produce driver’s licence. One roadside breath demand was given, where the driver blew a zero.

Consume in public
On May 21 at 5:30pm, Lillooet RCMP conducted a foot patrol of Downton Park and located one man with an open 2L container of alcohol. Police dumped the alcohol and the man was allowed to carry-on, as he was able to care for himself.

Noise complaint
On May 22, 2022 a man reported vehicles drag racing "in all of Lillooet all weekend" at an unknown location as he could only hear them, in Lillooet BC. Police were aware there was a planned drag racing event at the Lillooet airstrip over May 21-22 that could be heard throughout Lillooet over the weekend. Police were actively patrolling Lillooet over May 21-22 and no drag racing was observed on public roads.
