On Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2:29 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report about a Dodge Dakota truck that had backed into a ditch and became stuck in the 1000 block of Marianna Crescent, in Trail, BC. The officer located the truck and driver, a 34-year-old Trail woman, at the scene of the motor vehicle incident. The officer detected an alleged odour of liquor emanating from woman while roadside and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A demand was read to the woman, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.
The 34-year-old Trail woman was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had her vehicle impounded for up to 30 days.

On Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 3:54 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report about an unconscious 44-year-old Hamilton woman inside a blue Subaru hatchback in the 2000 block of Second Avenue, in Rossland, BC. Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue and EHS had discovered the woman passed out in the driver seat of the parked, running vehicle. The officer entered into an impaired driving investigation roadside, as he believed that the woman was under the influence of a drug.

A demand was read to the woman, who underwent a Standard Field Sobriety Test that resulted in a fail.

The 44-year-old Hamilton woman was issued a 12-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

On Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 10:57 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to report about 47-year-old woman crashing her a 2017 white Jeep into bushes in the 1600 block of Marcolin Drive, in Trail, BC. EHS transported the woman to the hospital for medical treatment. RCMP officers conducted a crash scene examination and believed that impairment by a drug may have been a factor in the incident. RCMP officer entered into an impaired driving investigation.

After the woman was admitted into hospital, a demand was read to the woman, and a sample of blood was obtained by a qualified medical practitioner.

The 47-year-old Trail woman man was issued a 24-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.  Trail RCMP will be forwarding a report to Crown Counsel, and recommend the approval of criminal charges.

On Monday, April 18, 2022, at 5:26 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was on a routine patrol when he detained a black BMW for travelling faster than the posted legal speed limit on Highway 22, near Genelle, BC. The officer detected an alleged odour of smoked marihuana emanating from the 47-year-old Calgary man and his vehicle while roadside and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A demand was read to the man, who underwent a Standard Field Sobriety Test that resulted in a fail.

The 47-year-old Calgary man was issued a 24-hour Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had his vehicle impounded for up to 7 days.

Trail RCMP will continue to prioritize the safety of our streets by taking impaired drivers off the road. – Sgt. Wicentowich
