Disturbance
On April 8th, 2022 at 9:17 am, Kitimat RCMP received a call for a disturbance at the Tim Hortons, located 125 City Centre, Kitimat BC. The caller, stated that she saw a woman standing in the middle of the road waving cars down. Police attended, located the female and was able to transport her to the hospital where she was assessed by medical professionals.
Impaired driver
On April 9th 2022 at 2:25 am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of an impaired driver that left the Chilly & Dancer Pub. Police were able to locate the vehicle a short distance later, determined through a roadside investigation that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded.
Impaired driver
On April 10th 2022 at 2:55 pm, Kitimat RCMP member while on patrol observed a vehicle that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit. After police queries, the vehicle was noted to have inactive insurance since February 9 2022. Police were able to effect a traffic stop with the vehicle, determined through a roadside investigation that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days, the vehicle impounded and the driver also received a violation ticket for no insurance and speeding against area sign.
Check well being
On April 11 at 1:41 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of intoxicated youths near Kildala Elementary School. The caller was concerned for the safety of the youth. Police were able to locate the youths and contacted their parents to have them come pick up their children. They were released to their parents care without charges.
Break and enter
On April 12 2022 at 11:42 am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a break and enter to the kiosk at the Landfill. Three (3) Milwaukee 18 volt batteries were taken. Structure fire
On April 13 2022 at 1:32pm Kitimat RCMP assisted with Kitimat Fire Department with a structure fire on Kuldo Blvd. Traffic and pedestrians were prevented from entering the area as Fire crews worked to put out the blaze. Emergency Services were able to rescue a family pet, sadly two others perished. There were no other injuries reported. The RCMP and the Fire Department are investigating.
