Break and Enter report leads to 5 charges against one man.

On February 4, 2022 at 2:24am, Fort St John RCMP received a report of two unknown men breaking into a business on the 9600 block of 81st Street, Fort St John.

Fort St John RCMP frontline police officers and the Peace Liard Police Dog Services unit attended and located one man hiding in a nearby compound. The man was taken into police custody with the assistance of Police Service Dog, Ruger.

Additional patrols led police to locate a second man, breaching his 24 hour curfew condition as he was supposed to be in Chetwynd at the time.

The first man, Darryl Dowd, was arrested for two counts of Break and Enter with Intent and one count of Mischief under $5000.

Dowd was also arrested for two additional incidents and is facing additional charges of Theft Under $5000 for shoplifting items on February 2, from a business located at 9716 Old Fort Rd, Fort St John (FSJ RCMP file# 2022-944), and for Theft under $5000 for shoplifting items on February 3, from a business located at 9612 Old Fort Rd, Fort St John (FSJ RCMP file# 2022-976). Dowd was held in custody until February 23 when he was released into the custody of a recovery centre as part of the conditions of his Release Order.  Dowd's next court appearance is March 28, 2022.

The second man, Justin Collins, was arrested for Breach of Release order (FSJ RCMP file# 2022-991) and was remanded into custody until March 9, 2022 when he was also released into the custody of a different recovery centre as part of the conditions of his Release Order.
