As School District 70 reaches the middle of its school year, drivers are still failing to stop for the flashing lights and stop signs on busses.
Already in 2022 Port Alberni RCMP have received eight complaints of vehicles who have failed to stop as busses are unloading or loading children.

School busses in Port Alberni are equipped with multiple exterior cameras, which, when turned over to police show the vehicle, driver and licence plate of the vehicle.Safety around school busses in a priority for officers. We work with the school district to follow up with the owners of the vehicles. We believe that with continued education we can stop these potentially dangerous offences from occurring,
