File # 2022-570

The RCMP in Creston is reaching out the community to seek any information in the theft of martial arts weapons that occurred overnight last Tuesday in Creston.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 2, 2022 frontline officers were called to an out building at a residence in the 1600-block of Hillside Street, Creston for a report that several thousand dollars worth of Martial Arts equipment/weapons had been stolen.

The complainant and owner of the weapons had a martial arts studio set up in the outbuilding and had last seen the equipment at approximately 7 p.m. on March 1, when the building had been locked up for the night. Upon returning the next morning, the owner discovered that a number of very unique and valuable weapons, including a red jade sword, a purple heart spear, two Adam Hsu swords, a dragon well forge sword, custom and retail knives, as well as other equipment, had been taken.

At this point, most investigative avenues have been exhausted, states Cpl. Evan Diachok of the Creston RCMP. As such, we are reaching out to the public to ask anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of these weapons and other equipment, to please call us. We are a small community and it seems unlikely that weapons such as these would go unnoticed outside of a martial arts studio. These are not run of the mill items that anyone other than a collector or a martial arts expert, would normally have,’ Diachok continues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Creston RCMP at 250-428-9313 and cite file 2022-570.
