Rock fall in Kicking Horse Canyon

One person in critical condition after a rock fell on their vehicle 4km east of Golden BC on Highway 1. The individual was brought to the local area hospital, and their family is with them.

On March 4, 2022 at 3:50p.m., the Golden RCMP was notified of a rock fall and motor vehicle incident resulting in injury in the canyon east of Golden. Police, Fire, Ambulance and Highways all responded and worked together to get drivers out of the danger zone and prevent further injuries.

The highway was closed for approximately 2 hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

The Golden RCMP would like to thank our partners for their hard work, and sincerely thank the citizens who came together to help those who were injured states Cpl. Mike Wilson. Our hearts go out to the families of the injured parties.
