Charges laid in drug possession investigation.

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, Smithers RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on Queen Street near 1st Avenue in Smithers.
When police approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, the officer saw what was believed to be suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver and lone occupant was arrested and later released without process pending further investigation.
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022 BC Prosecution Services approved one charge in relation to this investigation.
Bradley Theodor Layton, 56 years old, has been charged with Possession of Fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Bradley is schedule to appear in court on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
