
Man injured in Ladysmith boat yard fire

The Ladysmith RCMP is investigating after being called to a fire which left one man injured earlier this morning.
Just after 4 a.m. on February 26, 2022, frontline officers from the Ladysmith RCMP were called to the 900-block of Ludlow Road, in Ladysmith to assist the Ladysmith Fire Service who was responding to a fire in the boat yard.
When officers arrived, they found Fire Service was fighting a large fire involving several boats and structures. A man, who was suffering from severe burns was standing near the gate.
The man was taken to a local area hospital for treatment of injuries.
The Ladysmith RCMP, in partnership with the Ladysmith Fire Service and the Vancouver Island General Investigation Section, are investigating the incident.
S/Sgt. Wes Olsen of the Ladysmith RCMP states, It is too early in the investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, or determine whether or not it is suspicious. We will treat it as suspicious until we can determine otherwise.
