RCMP investigating Friday night homicide

The RCMP is investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead in Fort St. James last night.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Fort St. James RCMP frontline officers were called to a trailer park in the 800-block of Spruce Road in Fort St. James for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived they found a 36-year-old man dead from an apparent gun shot wound. A 29-year-old resident of Fort St James, was arrested by Fort St. James RCMP officers.

The BC-RCMP North District Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and will remain in the area gathering evidence for the upcoming days.

Inspector Lorne Wood of the ND MCU states, Our investigation leads us to believe this was a targeted incident between two men, who were known to each other and there is no on-going risk to the public.
