File # 2022-102
On Friday, January 21, 2022, Masset RCMP discovered a door to the unoccupied Masset Airport building ajar and appeared to be held open with a stick. Further investigation by police showed evidence of a break in and it is believed that the suspect fled the scene as police approached the building.
A secure booth within the airport had been broken into. It appears the would be thief moved numerous Haida Argilite sculptures from their shelf as if in preparation to be removed from the premises. They likely would have been stolen had the thief not been interrupted.
Further in investigation revealed that money had been taken from Pacific Coastal Airline. Evidence at the scene suggest that the suspect is a man, in his mid-30's, approximately 5'11" and 200 pounds.
If you have any information about this contact the Masset RCMP at (250) 626-3991 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
