
Police investigate home invasion

On Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2:08 am, New hazelton RCMP responded to home in 2100 Block of 23rd Avenue in the community for a report of a home invasion involving weapons. It was reported that three suspects, armed with firearms gained entry into the home.
Police immediately attended where they found numerous people in the residence, who stated the three suspects had fled the scene before police arrived.
Witnesses state that the three suspects, wearing masks, two carrying firearms tried to gain entry into a room in the house. Shots were fired and one person in the home was injured. The victim, an adult woman, was taken to hospital and her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The investigation is active and a priority with the possibility of numerous Criminal Code charges being considered and police have identified possible suspects. This incident appears to be targeted and we don’t believe there is any further risk to the general public,
