Multiple car accident shuts down Highway 99 near Murrin Provincial Park

On January 6, 2022, at about 1:30 p.m., Squamish RCMP responded to a six car accident on Highway 99 near Murrin Park, just south of Squamish. Currently, the highway is shut down in both north and southbound directions, and will likely take some time to reopen.

BC Highway Patrol, Fire Services, Emergency Health Services, and Miller Capilano are also on scene for a coordinated response. Injuries reported thus far are not life threatening.

So far, weather and road conditions appear to be a factor, says Corporal Angela Kermer of Squamish RCMP. We will ensure people’s safety and follow up with our investigation as to the cause.
