Car accident partially shuts down Highway 99 near Lions Bay

On Sunday, January 2, 2022, at about 2:30 p.m., Squamish RCMP responded to a car accident on Highway 99 about five kilometers north of Lions Bay.

The accident involved a car and a pedestrian, and extent of injuries are not yet known. BC Highway Patrol Squamish, Emergency Health Services, Fire Rescue, and Miller Capilano have responded and are at scene. Squamish RCMP has contacted the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service for further assistance.

Currently, southbound lanes are closed, however, northbound lanes open on Highway 99 in Lions Bay area.

The investigation is in its beginning stages, says Corporal Dallas Langley of the Squamish RCMP. We have all the resources available to us working on this.
