1. 2021-8401 - Property Theft
On December 25, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of theft from the parking lot of a local hotel in the 39400 block Discovery Way that happened sometime between 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. While left unattended, thieves stole a ski bag including boots, a helmet, goggles, and gloves, with a total value of about $1,500.

2. 2021-8400 – Theft of Vehicle
On December 25, 2021, Squamish RCMP responded to a report of car theft from a local gas station at Highway 99 and Cleveland Ave. When the owner was inside the store, the thief stole the car. The car’s global positioning tracker notified the owner of the car’s location, and Squamish RCMP worked with West Vancouver Police Department to locate and arrest the thief, who was released from custody with a future court date.

3. 2021-8371 – Car Accident, Highway 99 Near Big Orange Bridge
On December 23, 2021, a driver lost control of her car and crashed into the ditch on Highway 99 north of the Big Orange Bridge. Squamish Fire Rescue needed to extract the driver from her vehicle, and Emergency Health Services transported her to local hospital for minor injuries. Police determined the driver had drank liquor prior to the accident, and served her a 24 driving prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.

4. 2021-8357 – Fraud
On December 23, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of a $3,500 fraud after a fraudster posed as the unsuspecting victim’s boss and had the victim buy gift cards. The fraudster convinced the victim the cards were for employee gifts and had the victim send him the gift card codes. In addition to police, the victim contacted their bank and employer’s fraud departments to help resolve the matter.
