
Port Alberni RCMP investigating mid-day collision

The Port Alberni RCMP is investigating a collision on Tuesday that resulted in one woman being air-lifted to hospital.
At approximately 12:37 p.m. on December 28, a frontline officer was on route to a different incident, when he came upon the collision which has just occurred at the intersection of Johnston Road and Broughton Road, Port Alberni. The incident involved an older model Ford F250 and a later model Subaru Impreza Wagon.
A 44-year-old Port Alberni woman, who was a passenger in the Subaru, was airlifted to a larger area hospital in what is believed to be serious condition. The other two occupants of the Subaru were transported to a local area hospital for assessment of what were believed to minor injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 26-year-old man from Port Alberni, remained at the scene and was co-operative with police.
A traffic reconstructionist was called to assist in the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation however alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
Anyone who was a witness to the incident and has not already spoken with police is asked to call the Port Alberni RCMP and cite file 2021-13417.
