Charges likely following a drug trafficking investigation

In June 2021, Smithers RCMP Crime Reduction Unit began an investigation, into drug trafficking within the community.
The investigation, which included surveillance, showed suspicious activity consistent with the sale of illegal drugs at a local residence.
During surveillance, police noted that several vehicles stopped at the home for short durations. Police gathered evidence and a search warrant was issued for the home in the 3900 Blocker of Gilbert Road. During the search, police seized a loaded .22 firearm, ammunition, suspected cocaine, cash and paraphernalia.
In August of 2021, the Crime Reduction Unit commenced another drug trafficking investigation with information regarding suspected dealers. As the investigation progressed, evidence was obtained and a search warrant was issued for a residence in the 7000 Block of Dieter Road.
Police seized a large quantity of illicit drugs suspected to be fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine as well as cash and drug paraphernalia. Police also seized a loaded .22 firearm, crossbows, and ammunition.
Several people were arrested in both investigations and charges of drug trafficking and possession could be a result of the investigations involving Smithers and Houston RCMP said Cpl Ryan Law, Smithers RCMP
