File # 2021-9120
Traffic on Highway 97 was disrupted for an hour after a truck collided with a power pole and then rolled over within Quesnel city limits.
On October 27, 2021, at approximately 11:35 p.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 97 just north of the Quesnel River Bridge.
A witness reported that a northbound Dodge truck was travelling at a high rate of speed down Dragon Lake Hill. After the truck crossed the bridge, the driver lost control, sheared off a tree and power pole, and then rolled over.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was extricated from the vehicle and then transported to G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
BC Hydro attended the scene to clear the road of the downed power lines. Highway 97 was closed to traffic for just over an hour.
The investigation is continuing to determine if speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
