Ucluelet RCMP and VIIMCU investigating suspicious death

On October 26, 2021 the Ucluelet RCMP was contacted after receiving a report that a deceased man was discovered inside a local business on Peninsula Rd, in Ucluelet.

The complainant called police after making several attempts at contacting the man without success. The complainant entered the business and found the man deceased.

Ucluelet RCMP frontline members along with Emergency Health Services attended the location and confirmed the man was deceased. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) was contacted for assistance as a precaution, to determine if the man’s death is suspicious.

This investigation is currently in the very early stages, and we are still trying to determine the nature of the incident that caused this man’s death said Sergeant Chris Manseau, Division Media Relations Officer for the BC RCMP.

The BC Coroners Service is also conducting a concurrent fact-finding investigation into this unexpected death. The deceased’s name will not be released.
