1. 2021-6753 Break and Enter to Business
On October 2, 2021, Squamish RCMP received a report of commercial break and enter at a restaurant in the 40000 block Government Rd. A suspect pried open a back door using a knife, entered the building, and stole electronics including a laptop they used to commit a $6000 fraud. This file remains open for investigation.
2. 2021-6739 – Excessive Speed
On October 1, 2021, BC Highway Patrol Squamish was doing safety enforcement on Highway 99, and observed a car speeding excessively. The posted speed zone was 80 km/h, and the driver was travelling at 131 km/h. The investigating member issued the driver a violation ticket for excessive speed and impounded the car for seven days under the Motor Vehicle Act.
3. 2021-6738 – Theft
Squamish RCMP investigated a report of theft that happened on September 24, 2021 between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., in the 1000 block Village Green Way. An unknown woman went into a strata complex and stole some packages. Police continue follow up with this investigation.
4. 2021-6667 – Break and Enter
On September 28, 2021, at 1:30 a.m., Squamish RCMP received a report of a man who used a hammer to smash the door and gain entrance to a liquor store downtown. He did a quick shop stuffing six liquor bottles into his backpack before leaving the store. Police continue following up with this file.
