1. 2021-5966 - Residential Break and Enter
Squamish RCMP investigated a break and enter that happened sometime between August 26, 2021 at 3:00 pm and August 27, 2021 at 5:30 pm. Thieves entered a vacant residence and stole about $2000 of property. Items included a 14 foot roll of two inch copper wiring, a nail gun, two Rigid drills with batteries and charger, a skill saw, a jigsaw in a blue case, and drill driver and battery.
2. 2021- 5927 –Impaired Driving
On August 28, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of impaired driving. Police located the driver who was both prohibited from driving and impaired. Investigators arrested the driver under the Motor Vehicle Act, impounded his vehicle, issued further driving prohibition documents, compelled him to court at a future date, and arranged transport from the scene for him and his passenger.
3. 2021-5926/2021-5845 - Wildfire Act
On two occasions this past week, police responded to reports of yard and campfires that were contrary to the current provincial fire ban. In the first instance, persons were burning brush in their back yard, and police issued a provincial violation ticket under the Wildfire Act. In the second instance, Squamish Fire Rescue and police attended for several fires at a local camp site.
4. 2021-5797 - Shoplifting
On August 21, 2021, two unknown females, believed to be youth, stole $350 worth of liquor from the provincial liquor store. Thieves stole four bottles of unknown liquor and a six pack of cider. Police continue this investigation.
