Port Alberni RCMP investigating homicide on 18th Ave

On August 29th, 2021 at just after 6 p.m. the Port Alberni RCMP were called to a report of a male had being shot in a residence on 18th Ave in Port Alberni. The responding officers quickly contained the site, identified the parties involved and a suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The scene is currently being held while investigator draft a warrant to advance the investigation. The parties involved are known to each other, there is no threat to neighbours or the community and no connection to gangs or organized crime.

The investigation is in the early stages and Provincial Crown Counsel will be briefed and engaged today.

The BC Coroners Service is also conducting a concurrent fact-finding investigation into this unexpected death. Due to the privacy of the deceased, under the Coroners Act, the deceased’s name will not be released.
