1. 2021-4831 – Fraud
On July 24, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of fraud when unknown persons used the complainant’s name to open bank accounts online and obtain bank cards. The complainant contacted Equifax and the banks and changed their banking passwords to stop the fraud from continuing.
2. 2021-4731 – 90 Day Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On July 20, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated an impaired driver along Paradise Valley Rd. The driver crashed into a ditch and then tried to walk away from the scene to evade police. Through investigation, the member determined the driver was impaired by liquor and should not have been driving. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, the member issued the driver a 24 hour driving prohibition, a 90 day driving prohibition, and impounded the driver’s truck. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the driver’s truck did not sustain any damage.
3. 2021-4728/2021-4840 – Howe Sound Fire/Campfire
On July 20, 2021, Squamish RCMP received a report of a fire along Howe Sound south of Squamish. Investigators liaised with the Squamish Lillooet Regional District and confirmed the fire was low risk and posed no threat to persons or structures. Two crews and two helicopters worked to extinguish the blaze. In another incident on July 24, 2021, police investigated a campfire near Cat Lake where campers left hot coals in a propane fire unattended. Police issued a violation ticket to the person responsible for $1725 under the Wildfire Act.
4. 2021-4722 – Theft
Squamish RCMP investigated a theft of catalytic converter from a 2000 Ford Ranger that happened between dates July 14-20, 2021, from the 1300 block Victoria St.
