File # 2021-4753

On July 21, 2021, at about 5:00 p.m., Squamish RCMP received a call about a man who went swimming in the ocean off a dock in Lions Bay, went underwater, and did not surface.

Upon receiving the call, Squamish RCMP worked with the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, RCMP Air 1, Lions Bay Fire Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard with divers, and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue to search for the man.

After pausing due to nighttime conditions last evening, the search has resumed today. The RCMP Dive Team will be on hand to assist further with the search.

We are working with the community and our partners, using all the resources we have available to bring this man back to his family, says Cpl. Angela Kermer of the Squamish RCMP.
