1. 2021-4685 – Theft from Auto
On July 19, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a theft from vehicle that happened sometime overnight in the 38300 block of Summits View Dr. Suspects stole two knives, about $30 in loose change, and a pair of headphones. This week police also investigated three catalytic converter thefts from cars. Two Toyota Rav 4’s and a Ford F350 had converters stolen, and the theme amongst all three was they were parked along or near local forest service roads.

2. 2021-4662 – Wildfire Act
On July 17, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of campfire along Shannon Creek Forest Service Road. Investigators located the campfire and the person who started it. The fire was in contravention of provincial campfire regulations, investigators issued a provincial violation ticket for $1,150 under the Wildfire Act, and ensured the fire was put out safely.

3. 2021-4644 – Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On July 16, 2021, Squamish RCMP investigated a report of erratic driving along Highway 99. On investigation, members determined the driver was impaired after failing two approved screening device tests. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, police impounded the driver’s car for 30 days, and served the driver with 24 hour and 90 day driving prohibitions.

4. 2021-4592/2021-4595 – Theft From Auto, Fraud
On July 19, 2021, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the next morning, Squamish RCMP investigated a theft from car and subsequent fraud. A car owner had their wallet and contents stolen from their car that was parked in the 2100 block of Read Cr. Thieves used a stolen bank card from the wallet to make fraudulent purchases at a local gas station and coffee shop. The card owner cancelled their bank cards so no further frauds could happen.
