Sicamous woman drowns in Mara Lake

On Monday July 5 at 10:00PM Sicamous RCMP responded to a report of a female swimmer who was in medical distress at a beach on Swansea Point on Mara Lake near Sicamous.

The 42 year old female, a Sicamous resident had been swimming with a friend when she went under the water and did not surface. The friend was able to locate the victim under the water and return her to shore. BC Ambulance and Eagle Valley rescue attended and performed CPR valiantly without success.

RCMP believe that the death is not suspicious in nature and the BC Coroner Service is conducting an investigation into the sudden death. There is no further information available at this time.
