Suspect arrested in connection to rollover crash in March
As previously reported, the Oceanside RCMP dealt with a stolen truck that was crashed at 5:00 p.m., on March 14, on the Inland Highway near Horne Lake Road. The driver and passenger of the vehicle fled the scene on a dirt bike and fortunately keen witnesses filmed the whole event transpiring.

When local officers reviewed the footage they immediately recognized the prolific offender of no fixed address, as 32 year old Sheldon James Johanson. The RCMP are still working on charges for the female passenger who was involved.
On May 18, the Oceanside RCMP located Johanson at a residence in Parksville and arrested him in relation to the crash.
Johanson was held in custody and has been remanded until he makes his next appearance in court on May 25. Proposed charges include possession of stolen property and firearms offences.
It was very fortunate that witnesses recognized the seriousness of the event, took video and stuck around to share the information with the police. We have them to thank for bringing Johanson to justice.
