
Ladysmith RCMP investigate collision between pickup truck and mobility scooter

On May 13th just after 3pm the Ladysmith RCMP were advised of a collision at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and 1st Ave.
When police arrived at the location, they located an elderly man who was being treated by Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance for injuries received, after being struck by a pickup truck.
Through investigation it was learned that the man was operating a mobility scooter had crossed westbound on Trans-Canada Highway, from Ludlow toward 1st Avenue. The driver of the white pickup truck turned left from Ludlow onto the Trans-Canada Highway and struck the man in his mobility scooter, knocking the scooter over, and the man from the scooter to the pavement.
Both the scooter and the pickup truck have been seized for further inspection
says Corporal Chris Manseau, BC RCMP spokesperson The scooter driver was transported by BC Ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the driver has fully cooperated with the investigation
The Trans-Canada Highway was closed for almost two hours while investigators from the Ladysmith RCMP conducted their scene examination and investigation.
