
Woman inured by runaway tire

A Nanaimo woman was taken to hospital earlier today when a runaway tire hit the windshield of the car she was in, injuring her.
On March 18, 2021 at approximately 9:50 a.m. the Oceanside RCMP received a report of an Motor Vehicle Incident on the Island Hwy at the Off Ramp at the Parksville Bypass.
RCMP officers attended and determined that a white pick up truck, being driven south bound, had been towing a trailer and a wheel had fallen off the axel of the trailer.
The wheel jumped the median into the southbound lane and hit the windshield of a silver Honda CRV.
The CRV driver was uninjured, however his passenger, a 66-year-old Nanaimo woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital by BC EHS.
