RCMP officers and employees of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment (UFVRD) wear pink in an effort to raise awareness to the prevention of bullying as February 24, 2021 marks National Pink Shirt Day.

Bullying is a form of aggression where there is a power imbalance and can be any unwelcomed, mean-spirited or behaviour that makes a person uncomfortable, upset or scared. It makes no difference whether the act takes place in person, at work, school, online or in the community it must not be tolerated.

The Officers and staff of the UFVRD are wearing to pink to raise awareness to the issue and add our support in putting an end to bullying type behaviour, says Superintendent Bryon Massie M.O.M., Officer in Charge of the UFVRD.

RCMP encourages young people to speak to parents, approach teachers or other adults they trust if they are experiencing bullying. The problem can be rectified if the person affected reaches out.
