On June 22nd, 2021 at 8:30 pm Sooke RCMP frontline officers were called to the 5800 block of Sooke Road where workers were replacing a hydro pole. A male wielding an 11 inch knife was waving it around in a threatening manner. The male was intoxicated and expressed his displeasure in the amount of time it was taking to return power to his home.

The male was taken into custody by officers and is held for court. Several charges including Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats are being recommended.

This incident was an un-provoked act of aggression against people working in our community and is an example of the unpredictable and often dangerous situations that our officers respond to. Fortunately, in this instance, no one was hurt, and the male was taken into custody safely" says Sooke RCMP Operations NCO Sergeant Kevin Shaw.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or to make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
