Kitimat RCMP assisted Kitimat Fire Department at a large residential structure fire which resulted in no loss of human life.

Two firefighters spraying water on structure fire with firehoses, Third firefighter walking nearby. Large cloud of smoke coming from building.

On August 27, 2021 at approximately 5:41 pm, Kitimat RCMP responded to a structure fire at Kuldo Apartments in Kitimat, BC. Upon arrival large quantities of smoke were seen pouring out of the building, as flames were already visible.

Multiple people were still inside the apartment and through quick work of the Fire Department and Police Officers, they were able to extract everyone including one cat safely. Sadly, there were other pets lost in the fire.

Seeing so many people displaced from their homes and losing pets is heartbreaking states Constable Jenny Muckle. We can’t imagine what people are going through but have seen the community of Kitimat come through for them in such an amazing way.

Kitimat RCMP would like to extend great thanks to all those in Kitimat who have extended compassion and provided resources to those experiencing losses at this time.
