Arson at Centennial Park in Duncan

On August 20th, 2021 at approximately 3:30 am the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP frontline officers and the Duncan Fire Department responded to a report of several garbage bins on fire at Centennial Park at 309-1st Street in Duncan.  When police arrived on scene they found two garbage bins and bench smoldering and another garbage bin still on fire.  Duncan Fire Department were able to quickly extinguish the fires.

 

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are wishing to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or has information that could assist with identifying the person or persons responsible for starting these fires.  If you have any information please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477

"Our parks in the Cowichan Valley are here for everyone to use and enjoy and it is so disappointing to see them being damaged in this way, I hope we can find the person responsible for this", said Constable David Grey.
