File # 2021-12656

On August 12th, 2021 at about 4:30 pm the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP assisted the Duncan Fire Department with an arson near the Silver Bridge on the Trans Canada Highway in Duncan.  Witnesses said they saw a male near the fire when it first started and he fled the area possibly on a bike.  This male is described as Caucasian, slim build, average height, with blond curly hair, wearing no shirt and shorts.  The fire was burning in the brush, just south of the trail that runs under the Silver Bridge and the male fled on the trail east bound towards McKinstry Road and Rotary Park.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP frontline officers request assistance with identifying the male who was observed in the area of this arson.  "If there is someone who was out using the trails in this area at about 4:30 pm and notice a male fleeing the area, any information may help us identify this male and prevent similar incidents," said Constable David Grey.

Please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or provide the information anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
