Fatal House Fire in North Cowichan

On July 20, 2021 at about 10:30 pm the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to a request to assist the North Cowichan Fire Department, with a fully engaged residence in the 6900 block of Hall Road, Duncan.  The occupant of the residence was believed to be in the home at that time.

The structure completely burned and what appears to be human remains were located.  This investigation is in its early stages and is now a BC Coroners Service investigation.  At this time the fire is not believed to be suspicious and there is no concern for public safety.

Preliminary next of kin notification has been completed.

"We cannot release the name of the victim in this fire until we have positively identified the person," said Cpl. Jennifer Morgan.
