File # 2021-2219

Over the last two weeks, 100 Mile House RCMP has received reports of a black 1995 Honda Accord driving at high speed and maneuvering unsafely along Highway 97 and other areas within the boundaries of the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment area.

Working together, 100 Mile House RCMP and BC Highway Patrol (100 Mile House) attempted to stop the vehicle on Wednesday June 16, 2021, but the driver fled again at a dangerous speed. Over the next two weeks, police continued to receive updates from the public about bad driving behaviour.

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021 members of 100 Mile House RCMP and BC Highway Patrol detained a 35 year old local man at a residence in Lac La Hache BC. The man, who is known to police, was charged with several offences under the Motor Vehicle Act and was served a driving prohibition notice. Two vehicles located on the same property belonging to the man were issued safety orders and their insurance revoked.

The vehicle used to flee from police was impounded. The driver will be summoned to court at a later date to face Criminal Code offences, including dangerous operation and flight from Police.
