Threats to MCFD and family of the suspect - one local male in custody

On Friday, June 4th 2021 at 11:50 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP were advised of a threat against the local Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Office regarding their handling of family court matters and custody issues in 100 Mile House BC.
The suspect, a 38 year old local Caucasian man known to Police, had made direct threats and reference to the local ministry office and to several social workers. The local office went into their lock down mode and was further secured by Police presence. The family involved in the
messaging from the suspect were also given Police over-watch at their residence.
An operations plan was developed in order to safely arrest the suspect away from his residence which is located in the Forest Grove area. This was completed and the man was safely arrested, then brought to cells. MCFD and the family were advised of the arrest and will continue to be updated as to the status of the investigation moving
The suspect’s residence was cleared by Police at outset shortly after his arrest to ensure it could be
considered safe and unoccupied prior to a search warrant being completed. During the clearing of the residence, a shotgun and ammunition were located in plain view. The residence was then secured and a search warrant completed with assistance of the RCMP North District General Investigative Section out of Williams Lake. The search warrant was approved by a Judicial Justice in the late evening of June 4th.
A search of the residence is ongoing, but is expected to be completed this evening, after which the scene will be released.The man is still in custody and currently being held for a judicial bail hearing in the morning via the virtual bail hearing process. T
These types of situations are extremely difficult for the family involved and our social workers.
