On Friday, April 2, 2021 at 4:40 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP and BC Highway Patrol (100 Mile House RCMP) were on patrol along Highway 24 near Lone Butte BC when officers came across a vehicle pulling an uninsured trailer.

The driver, a 44 year old male resident of Bridge Lake BC, was a known prohibited driver. A vehicle stop ensued and the man was arrested for prohibited driving.

A search of the truck incidental to arrest located a semi automatic rifle with a prohibited magazine in the cab area of the truck within easy reach of the driver. The rifle was unsafely stored and was found to be loaded.

There was also evidence of drug trafficking within the vehicle. The vehicle was seized for a further more complete search at the detachment, and then impounded. The driver was arrested and brought to cells. Charges are being recommended to Crown Counsel for a number of Criminal Code offences. The investigation is ongoing.
