File # 2021-112
100 Mile House RCMP wishes to correct an erroneous report that is currently being transmitted from a local media source regarding the incident from yesterday involving Clinton, 100 Mile House and Williams Lake RCMP. The erroneous report heard from a local media outlet indicates that Police shot at the suspects or vice versa. This is not the case. The only shot that was fired occurred in the Clinton area during the break and enters in their area. There were no shots fired during the ongoing incident while the suspect vehicle travelled from the initial contact point in 100 Mile House RCMP area, near the 83 Mile hill along Highway 97, to the end of the incident near Knife Road in Williams Lake RCMP area. There were no injuries to the suspects or any RCMP officers during the ongoing incident and none to any of the public who were either involved in or witnessed the events as they unfolded.
South Cariboo Search and Rescue continue to actively search for articles related to the offence along Highway 97 between Canco Gas Station at Kokanee Bay north of Lac La Hache to Knife Road south of 150 Mile House BC. Dawson Road Maintenance has posted a reduced speed section in that zone for today. The search for articles will be concluded after daylight ends today or the articles are located.
Anyone with any questions regarding this incident can contact the undersigned or Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, the North District Media Relations Officer.
