Update to ongoing fatal hit and run investigation

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP want to update the public with the recent findings in the fatal hit & run collision from February 14 2021.

Investigators have worked tirelessly since the incident and have now identified the 42 year old victim, and have been in contact with his family.

The suspect vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was identified. Investigators seized the vehicle and thoroughly examined it. Members of the Forensic Identification Section were contacted and have been involved in this investigation since it’s inception. The person believed to be driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision has also been identified, but no details will be released.

This will be a lengthy and involved investigation, and we expect it will take some time says North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Staff Sergeant Chris Swain I want thank the public for their assistance in this serious and tragic investigation, and for their patience as investigators work through its complexity

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death. Due to the privacy of the deceased, neither organization will be releasing or confirming identity.
