Man arrested during execution of a search warrant for drugs in Ymir

On January 8, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m., Salmo RCMP responded to a residence in Ymir during a routine call for service. While at the residence front line RCMP officers allegedly discovered illegal drugs in plain view.

The home owner, an adult man, was arrested at the scene and a search warrant for the residence was sought and approved by the courts. The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of large quantities of suspected psilocybin (aka magic mushrooms), cannabis, cannabis oil and cannabis pills. Canadian cash was also seized by investigators.

The man could now face potential trafficking and production charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The full findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada for charge assessment.
