Update - Death of woman on New Year’s Day now considered a hit-and-run homicide

Sicamous RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the unexpected death of a woman early on New Year’s Day.

The victim, who was previously reported to be 65 years of age, has been positively identified as a 64-year-old woman. She was found at approximately 2:30 a.m., suffering from significant injuries, on a private roadway within the Cedars RV and Resort on Luoma Road in Sicamous, BC.
The Sicamous RCMP has been working in partnership with the Southeast District General Investigation Section and forensic specialists from the Integrated Forensic Identification Services section on this criminal hit and run investigation.
The investigation has led investigators to believe that the woman was struck by a motor vehicle, says Sgt. Murray McNeil, Detachment Commander of the Sicamous RCMP.
This is now considered a fatal hit-and-run and we are once again asking the public for information regarding this incident.
