100 Mile House RCMP has received reports of businesses and individuals that are in contravention of the COVID-19 Measures Act (CMA) which is the enforcement criteria and stands for businesses and individuals during COVID-19.

On Friday, December 18, 2020 in conjunction with, and guidance from the Environmental Health Officer of Interior Health, police and a Health Inspector attended a business that was reported to be in contravention of the CMA.

Upon attendance it was found there were violations under section 7(1) CMA Fail to Comply with Patron Requirements. An Appearance Notice was issued in place violation tickets to compel the owner to court.

Information on small business rules for COVID-19 and possible enforcement actions was also provided to assist them. This was done to provide the owner time to come into compliance with the CMA and be aware of the requirements during these times so court would not be required.

Police, Work Safe BC and Interior Health have been in conversation with this business since December 8, 2020 in an effort to have them work within the CMA as other businesses locally and provincially have been required to do. Police Health Inspectors and Bylaw Officers will continue to enforce the COVID Measures Act as required.
