File # 2020-7405 and 2020-7407

Investigators believe that the at least one dozen windows, senselessly damaged at two area businesses, were shot at by a suspect armed with a pellet gun.

On December 3, 2020 at 9:23 a.m., Salmon Arm RCMP received a report that the Askew’s Foods store, located in the 2700-block of 11 Avenue NE, in Salmon Arm was vandalized sometime overnight. Police attended the location and examined the extent of the damages caused to four large exterior windows. Investigators believe that a suspect or suspects shot over a dozen BB pellets, none of which entered inside the store.

Just after 10 a.m., Salmon Arm RCMP received another report of vandalism, this time at the Askew’s Foods downtown location. Investigators attended the Lakeshore Drive store and determined that another eight windows were damaged by projectiles, believed to be fired from a pellet gun.

We of course believe the two matters are linked to one another, states S/Sgt. Scott West, Detachment Commander of the Salmon Arm RCMP. It is fortunate no one was injured as a result of this senseless act. Our investigators are now focussing on identifying the individual or individuals responsible for this mischievous.

Anyone with any video surveillance or dash camera footage that may help investigators is asked to contact police.

If you witnessed this incident or have any additional information, you are asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
