On Thursday, October 15, 2020, the male involved in this offence came forward to resolve his involvement with this offence which occurred at the Tim Hortons store in 100 Mile House, BC.
100 Mile House RCMP appreciate the public's assistance in generating tips to identify the male, but we do wish to mention that we were aware of who the suspect was all along. We had hoped we would be able to gather more information about the event, which is what happened. We will be speaking further with the owner of the van, who is also well known to local Police, about their involvement as well.
The male from the photo, who cannot be publicly identified by the RCMP due to privacy issues, has repaid the store owner and apologized for his actions. The owner was satisfied with this result given the circumstances of the event. We are still investigating the potential local source of this counterfeit money.
The 100 Mile House RCMP are advising other businesses again in the area be aware counterfeit currency is being circulated and to be extra vigilant. Please report similar activity to the 100 Mile House RCMP.
Yesterday, we received further information from another store in 100 Mile House BC, FreshCo - Cariboo, involving the use of another counterfeit US $50 bill. 100 Mile House RCMP hope the public can assist, again, with identifying the unknown female in the attached photo, who used a counterfeit bill at that location over the holiday weekend.
100 Mile House RCMP continue to investigate both files. Anyone with information on either file can contact the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) to report anonymously. Please refer to file 2020-3611 or 3633.
