Police investigate mischief to property

On Monday, June 10, 2024 at 1:42 am, Williams Lake RCMP received a report of mischief to property.

A trailer pump at the B.C. Wildfire Service compound located neat Minton Lake and Lund Road had sand poured in the pump making it inoperable.

Evidence suggest that the suspect(s) cut the fence to gain access to the property. While no other buildings on the property were broken into, several items were spray painted.

A crime of this nature goes beyond mere damage but can greatly impact public safety. When essential equipment used in fighting wildfires is not readily available it impacts response times and the ability to ensure wildfire suppression efforts.

Police will be increasing patrols in the area and will hold those responsible accountable. Anyone with information on this is asked to call the Williams Lake RCMP at (250) 392-6211.
