File # 2024-6419

On April 6 at approximately 1:45 p.m., West Shore RCMP received a call from a complainant who advised that they located explosive material in their residence.

The complainant placed the explosive material in their vehicle and advised they were driving to the West Shore detachment. As this was dangerous, police directed the complainant to stop their vehicle, exit and wait for Police to attend their location while they waited a safe distance away. However, the complainant had already exited their vehicle and left the explosive material in the Veterans Memorial Park.

Police immediately attended the park located on the corner of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Goldstream Ave in Langford and secured the area. There is no risk to public safety as the area is secured. Police are currently at this location, and we ask that no public attend the park.

The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit attended, retrieved the explosive material and have disposed of it in a safe manner.  Thank you to the public for their patience as we dealt with this matter.  Veterans Memorial Park was opened up a few hours after the initial report to police.
