File # 2022-19141

Police have arrested a 14-year-old male youth suspect for threatening several members of the public with a knife.

The investigation began on October 23rd 2022, when West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a male youth suspect who was threatening to kill several people inside the McDonald’s restaurant located at 854 Langford Parkway in Langford.

West Shore RCMP officers attended the McDonald’s right away however the youth suspect had left and boarded a bus to Sooke prior to police arriving at the scene. Sooke RCMP was made aware of the incident and intercepted the bus, arresting the youth suspect. The knife was seized, and the youth was released on an Undertaking with conditions.

Several weeks later in November, two more victims came forward to the Sooke RCMP and described the same male youth suspect had brandished a knife, holding it to the victims, and threatened to kill them both while they were passengers on the BC Transit bus on October 23rd.

As a result, the youth suspect was arrested again and is now facing a variety of charges including two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of a concealed weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. The youth suspect has been placed on conditions including not to have any contact with the victims, not to attend the McDonald’s or any BC Transit bus or property and not to possess any weapons including knives. He is set to appear in court in early January 2023.
