Suspicious Structure Fire – 148th Street and 108 Avenue.

Surrey RCMP is currently on scene following a report of a suspicious fire in the Guildford area of Surrey.

At approximately 12:05 am, on January 20, 2024, Surrey RCMP received a report from Surrey Fire Department of a structure fire in a strip mall near the intersection of 148th street and 108th avenue.

Upon police attendance, several businesses in the strip mall were engulfed and being contained by fire crews on scene. All persons who were patronizing the businesses had been successfully evacuated and there were no apparent injuries. The fire appears to be suspicious in nature, however investigating officers are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Officers are still on scene, collecting statements from witnesses and conducting a neighborhood canvass. Both 148th street and 108th Avenue are subject to partial closures while Surrey Fire ensures the fire is completely out.
