Woman sustains non-life-threatening injury following stabbing

Surrey RCMP is seeking assistance from the public following a stabbing in the Newton area.

On January 16, 2024 at 7:52 p.m. Surrey RCMP received a report of a woman who had been stabbed by an unknown male in the 12100-block of 84 Avenue.

Police attended the area with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services, however were unable to locate the suspect. The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury, and was taken to hospital for treatment and has been since released.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit (GIU) has conduct of this investigation, and is currently gathering evidence and working on identifying the male suspect. The male suspect is described as having a thin build, and wearing a white puffy jacket.

Investigators will be actively conducting follow-up in the area so residents can expect to see police canvassing for witnesses and CCTV.
